The unit stays powered, but none of the buttons work and the GSP stays at the same preset it was. The cable snaps in the Control, but it has some room to move, and if I do that, the connection is lost. Do not connect the Control 2 Remote Foot. Never had any issues with it, except lately the cat5-socket with which to connect the cable between the Control 2 to the GSP seems faulty. GSP1101 or other DigiTech products which specify a connection to the Control 2. I've been using the excellent Digitech GSP1101 in combination with the Control 2 for a few years now.
